Silent Night Zombie Night (2009)
Dir. Sean Cain – 82 minutes
The mass influx of Zombie films over recent years has led to me being rather discerning with what I watch , but with it being near Christmas I am reviewing a few Xmas related films.
So this was in my to watch list and so it began.
From the start this was dreadful , the acting was way below par as was the script and the make-up was far too much. Some of the blood and gore was ok but that really is the only good thing I can say about this.
The film starts with two policemen on duty when the breakout of an unknown outbreak that is turning people into zombies. And of course it is spread through bites and scratches.
We find out that both officers are best friends and also are in fact in love with the same woman , who happens to be married to one of them. All three are then trapped in an apartment whilst the zombies run amok outside.
To be frank I couldn’t give a shit about the character development as the acting was so poor, it would have been far better to just have 82 minutes of shoot and slash with zombies vs. cops.
The make up was so over the top that when someone became infected they became a rotting cadaver within minutes.
The score is dreadful and In The Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg is one of the most misplaced pieces of music in a film.
The most pleasing part of this film was the fat zombie Santa.
There are no redeeming features in this film and even the Christmas setting seems just placed to find this film a niche.
Avoid at all costs PLEASE 2/10
